Security firm under PF probe demands R$862k from Corinthians in court

Kiara Segurança, a company hired during the administration of former president Augusto Melo, who was removed from office in August this year by Corinthians members, has filed a lawsuit to collect R$ 862,000 from the club. The group had been chosen by the previous management to oversee security at the club’s facilities, replacing WorkServ, whose contract was terminated following a recommendation from the Federal Police.

The hiring of Kiara took place even after Corinthians’ compliance department identified six red flags regarding the company: lack of registered employees, small size, low activity level, headquarters located at a residential address, and monthly fees higher than the company’s share capital. The contract stipulated a monthly payment of R$ 358,000 for a staff of 24 security guards.

Another aggravating factor occurred on November 13, 2024, when the Federal Police carried out an inspection at Corinthians’ youth training center. On that occasion, agents collected documents to verify whether the company had authorization to provide security services. Despite the operation, Kiara continued to provide services to the club during that period.

The agreement between the parties totaled R$ 8.6 million for two years of contract. However, in June this year, under the administration of president Osmar Stabile, Corinthians terminated the contract. Kiara claims the termination was unilateral and asserts there were about R$ 500,000 in outstanding payments, in addition to charging one more monthly fee as a contractual penalty.

This case adds to other claims and agreements related to the period of Augusto Melo’s administration that are being reviewed by the club. In response to the portal UOL, which first reported the lawsuit, Corinthians stated that it is in the process of renegotiating and restructuring the amounts and terms with the company.
