Senegal paraded the Africa Cup of Nations trophy on the Stade de France pitch on Saturday, before their 17:00 friendly with Peru, despite legal pressure from Morocco.

On Friday, Club des avocats au Maroc president Mourad Elajouti said in a post on X that he had sent two formal notices to the stadium operator and GL Events. He argued that assisting a ceremony based on a revoked title would make them directly liable.

A full house greeted Senegal’s players, with thousands of supporters from across France and beyond. Youssou N’Dour performed, and the trophy was presented to a jubilant crowd.

Captain Kalidou Koulibaly and Édouard Mendy carried the cup up to the main stand, handing it to officials about an hour before kick-off.

Plans had been set for a celebration in front of 70,000 spectators. On 17 March, however, the CAF appeals commission annulled Senegal’s triumph at the last Africa Cup of Nations following incidents in the final and awarded Morocco a 3-0 win by forfeit.
