Emi Martinez was of interest, but it is the Belgian who is set to join
Manchester United have agreed a deal worth £18.2million, plus add-ons, for Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
According to The Athletic, personal terms have already been agreed on a five-year deal and Lammens is en route to Manchester via a private jet.
United have been in talks with Antwerp and Lammens since last week, with stalled talks prompting the club to reignite interest in Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez.
But it is Lammens who United have decided to pursue, with the expectation now that a deal will be completed before Monday’s 7pm deadline.
The deal is worth a guaranteed £18.2m, with a further £3.5m in possible add-ons.
Martinez’s collapsed move to United is not expected to affect Jadon Sancho’s loan switch in the opposite direction.
Villa have reportedly agreed a season-long loan deal for Sancho, and will per 80 per cent of his £300,000-a-week wages.
United have been busy in the transfer market this summer, reinforcing their attack with the additions of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.
Mbeumo has hit the ground running, scoring twice in four competitive appearances. Cunha, though, has been struck down with a hamstring injury, while Sesko has struggled to find his feet in early appearances.
