Although Habib Beye’s departure has not yet been officially confirmed, Olympique de Marseille already appear to be looking for his successor.

Among the candidates under consideration, Bruno Genesio, who recently left LOSC Lille, seemed to stand out from the crowd. But recent approaches from AS Monaco and Paris FC regarding the 59-year-old manager could well shake things up.

If that happens, it could ultimately work in Sergio Conceição’s favour, as he has reportedly been put forward to OM by his agent Jorge Mendes, according to Foot Mercato. Linked with the Marseille club on several occasions in recent months, the Portuguese manager, who is set to leave Al-Ittihad, could thus make a return to France, where he has previously managed FC Nantes.

An experienced coach, does Conceição nevertheless have what it takes to spearhead the start of a new era at Marseille? A question that should be answered soon, as the appointment is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.
