Sergio Ramos has been linked with a plan to buy his boyhood club Sevilla.
The Athletic reports that the former Spain defender would front a €400 million bid for full control of Sevilla, currently held by multiple owners, backed by foreign investors. He would not be the principal financier, acting instead as the public face, and the agreement could take time due to the club’s debt assessment.
Ramos came through Sevilla’s academy and made his senior debut in 2004. He later enjoyed a long spell at Real Madrid, then joined PSG in 2021.
He returned to his formative club in September 2023. He is currently without a club after leaving Mexican side Monterrey in December.
Should an agreement be finalised, regulations mean he would be unable to play in the Spanish league. Ramos has not announced his retirement at 39.
