Sandro Tonali’s resurgence at Newcastle Utd has reignited transfer speculation linking him with Juventus. The Italian midfielder, who joined the Magpies from AC Milan for £55 million in 2023, has established himself as a central figure under Eddie Howe. His seamless adaptation to Premier League football following a ten-month suspension has made him indispensable in Newcastle’s midfield setup — one that has become a benchmark for balance and dynamism in English football.
Reports in Italy have once again tied Tonali to Juventus, with Il Bianconero claiming the Turin giants are continuing to monitor his situation closely. Club officials are said to be “evaluating” whether a move for the 25-year-old could be feasible, given Newcastle’s valuation and the player’s long-term commitment to St James’ Park.
Fuel was added to the speculation when Tonali reportedly met with his agent, Giuseppe Riso, in Milan during the recent international break. The meeting, held before Italy’s World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Israel, was said to focus on Tonali’s next career steps. Although no formal approach has been made, Juventus’ longstanding admiration for the player continues to simmer beneath the surface.

Goal Italia has suggested that Riso’s discussions included potential options should Tonali wish to return to Serie A in the coming years. Yet sources in Newcastle remain calm, confident that their player — who still has more than two years left on his deal — remains fully committed to Howe’s project.
Juventus’ interest, while genuine, may again falter under financial strain. The club’s transfer activity has been cautious amid ongoing restructuring, and Newcastle’s demands are unlikely to soften. Tonali’s form and age make him a premium asset, and with the Magpies competing on multiple fronts — including the Premier League and Champions League — there is little incentive to sell.
The relationship between the two clubs remains amicable following Lloyd Kelly’s recent move to Turin, but Newcastle’s hierarchy are understood to be firm in their stance. Any potential buyer would have to table an extraordinary offer to tempt them into negotiation.
Since his return to action, Tonali’s performances have earned widespread praise. His control of tempo, positional intelligence, and growing partnership with Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton have given Newcastle one of the most balanced midfields in the division. Former professionals have even described him as among the best in the league, highlighting his evolution since his Milan days.
As the fixture list intensifies, Tonali’s influence will be tested further. Newcastle face a demanding run of Premier League, Champions League, and domestic cup fixtures before November’s next international break — a period that could define both his season and Newcastle’s ambitions.
While Juventus continue to monitor from afar, it appears highly unlikely that Newcastle Utd will entertain any approach in the near future. For now, Tonali’s focus remains fixed on driving his club forward and maintaining Italy’s push towards the 2026 World Cup.
