Napoli extended their lead at the top of the Serie A table after recording an encouraging 3-1 victory over Como, to make it five wins from and a draw from their last six league matches.

Napoli came into the game sitting at the top of the Serie A table after six games. Como were in 10th after picking up back-to-back 3-2 wins over Atalanta and Hellas Verona over the last two weeks.

After wins in their last matches, neither Antonio Conte nor Cesc Fabregas decided to make any changes to their starting line-ups.

It took just 25 seconds for McTominay to open the scoring. He received the ball off Romelu Lukaku, took a touch to carry the ball into the area, and then dispatched in off the left post for a very early lead.

From there though, Como enjoyed the better chances of the first half. Nico Paz was the most threatening player on the pitch and came close on a number of occasions, including one off the post from 25 yards after 33 minutes.

The visitors deservingly got themselves an equaliser moments before the half-time interval, Strefezza managed to squeeze on through Alessandro Buongiorno’s legs on the edge of the area, which fooled Elia Caprile and ended up in the far corner.

Napoli went back ahead five minutes into the second half, as Matias Olivera won a penalty after an exchange with Lukaku just inside the Como penalty area. The Belgian stepped up to take it and dispatched straight down the middle and past Audero for 2-1.

Conte’s half-time team-talk seemed to have worked a treat, as Como were largely nullified in the second half, despite a promising opening 45.

Kvaratskhelia had two liung-busting runs down the left-flank with 15 minutes to go, but his first effort resulted in a routine save for Audero, while the other ended with an unsuccessful free-kick.

Napoli sealed their victory four minutes before the end of the 90. Another fine bit of hold-up play from Lukaku led to David Neres being sent through one-on-one with Audero. The Brazilian made no mistake and found the bottom corner from 12 yards out.

Napoli will finish the weekend at the top of the Serie A table for a second week in a row, as they currently have a four-point advantage over Juventus in second.
