Parma head coach Carlos Cuesta got his first Serie A win in charge of the club after his side defeated Torino 2-1 thanks to a brace from Mateo Pellegrino.
Aside from a win on penalties against Spezia in Coppa Italia last week, Cuesta’s side had yet to win a game this season. Draws with Cremonese and Atalanta and 2-0 defeats to Juventus and Cagliari marked a poor side to the young Spaniard’s life in charge of the Gialloblu.
It was a close game and whilst the visitors kept a majority of possession, they were unable to come away with a result.
Forward Mateo Pellegrino broke the deadlock, scoring from the penalty spot in the 36th minute and giving the hosts a valuable lead heading into the half-time break.

Torino attempted to get back into the game in the second half, with head coach Marco Baroni tweaking his tactics slightly in the face of a resilient Parma side.
Baroni’s side were rewarded in the 50th minute, when Saul Coco assisted Cyril Ngonge for a spectacular effort from outside of the box which flew into the top left corner.
With the score tied, both teams increased the intensity of their attacks and it was the hosts who saw their efforts rewarded.
A Parma corner saw the ball whipped in by Emanuele Valeri, with Pellegrino rising at close range to head the ball into the bottom left corner.
Torino pushed to fight their way back into the game but their efforts were fruitless and Cuesta’s Parma came away with all three points.
