Despite the highest wage bill in Serie A, Inter have slipped to fourth place in the annual ranking of squad values in the league.
Calcio e Finanza publish their rankings each year, where they calculate the total value of each squad by combining the wage bill with the amortisation rates for each club’s players.
Napoli have surged into the top spot, with a total squad cost of €240.5 million, with €130.5 million on amortisation rates and €110 million on player wages.

The Neapolitan side overtake Juventus, who sit in second with a total of €235 million (€112 million in amortisation and €123 million in player wages).
Inter are the only side that pay more in wages than the Bianconeri, with a total squad cost of €194.7 million consisting of just €53.2 million in amortisation rates and €141.7 million in player wages. This is indicative of the Nerazzurri’s reluctance to spend big money on transfers split over long multi-year contracts.
Milan rank in third in this season’s rankings, with €93 million in amortisation costs combined with €104.5 million in wages for a total of €197.5 million.
There is some distance between the top four, however, and the next four of the biggest clubs in Italy.

Roma’s total squad cost comes in at €163.5 million, Atalanta rank next with €132 million and Fiorentina after La Dea on €111.5 million.
Lazio complete the top eight, who managed to still increase their squad cost for this season, despite a transfer embargo preventing the Biancocelesti from signing any players who had not previously agreed a permanent move after a loan, which is where the club’s increase came from.
