Italian clubs shuffled squads in a cautious winter, with many prioritising stability over spectacle. Here are the verdicts on their business.
According to Football Italia, the grades out of 10 were: Atalanta six, Bologna five point five, Cagliari six point five, Como five, Cremonese six, Fiorentina five point five, Genoa seven, Inter five, Juventus five, Lazio five point five, Lecce five point five, Milan five, Napoli five, Parma six point five, Pisa four point five, Roma seven point five, Sassuolo five point five, Torino six, Udinese six, Verona five.
Roma led with seven point five. Donyell Malen has impressed, Robinio Vaz was a major spend, Tommaso Baldanzi left and Leon Bailey’s cameo was hampered by injury.
Among the big hitters, Inter kept things conservative, signing Yanis Massolin then leaving him at Modena. Juventus brought in Emil Holm and Jeremie Boga. Milan added Niclas Fullkrug and Alphadjo Cissè, with a Jean-Philippe Mateta move collapsing.
Atalanta’s call may hinge on Giacomo Raspadori and profit versus losing Ademola Lookman. Cagliari kept Marco Palestra. Genoa hope Tommaso Baldanzi supplies extra craft.
Parma look livelier with Hans Nicolussi Caviglia and Gabriel Strefezza. Pisa rolled the dice after changing coach, Rafiu Durosinmi has scored and Samuel Iling-Junior adds know-how.
Udinese oversaw more exits than arrivals, with Branimir Mlacic and Juan Arizala filed under potential, while Iker Bravo and Sandi Lovric departed and Saba Goglichidze maintained the Watford link. Verona turned to Kieron Bowie and Pol Lirola.
