Serie C, Inter U23 fall away at Vicenza | OneFootball

On Serie C matchday 32, Inter U23 slumped to a 2-1 defeat away at Vicenza. At the Stadio Menti, the Nerazzurri largely matched the leaders but were beaten by goals from Capello and Stuckler. Kamate halved the deficit after the break. The win saw the Biancorossi mathematically secure promotion to Serie B.

It was a balanced start to the match, with both sides alert to the potential danger. The first real chance of the game fell the way of Stuckler in the 18th minute, but Calligaris made the save to deny the hosts. Vicenza continued to push and, in the 31st minute, netted the opener: Caferri drove down the right and swung his cross in towards Capello, who nodded in to make it 1-0. Late in the half, the Biancorossi came close to doubling their lead through Capello, who sent his just past the post on the goalkeeper’s left. After a minute of stoppage time, the teams went in for half-time at 1-0 to Vicenza.

Inter U23 were more positive coming out from the break. In the 51st minute, Amerighi cut in from the right and saw his left-footed effort deflected away from goal by the defence. From the ensuing corner, Prestia headed off target. However, Vicenza struck again in the 55th minute, as Zonta’s cross found Stuckler, who headed home from close range. The Nerazzurri didn’t give up and pulled a goal back in the 66th minute, as Kamate’s cross bounced, catching the defence off guard, and went all the way in. Late in the day, Vecchi’s side pushed for the equaliser. Ten minutes from time, La Gumina twice let fly from range, but both efforts drifted off target. After six minutes of additional time, the referee blew for full-time. It ended 2-1 to Vicenza, who celebrated their return to the second tier of Italian football.
