Liverpool have been dealt setback after Ajax confirmed that goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros will not play again this season due to knee injury.

Season ends early for Jaros

Liverpool received worrying news regarding Vitezslav Jaros who is currently on loan at Ajax. The Dutch club announced that the goalkeeper has suffered serious knee injury that will keep him out for the rest of the campaign.

Jaros joined Ajax from Liverpool during the summer transfer window and quickly became key figure. He made 26 appearance in all competitions before picking up the injury during training session last week.

Surgery required after knee injury

In official statement, Ajax confirmed that medical tests showed Jaros needs surgery on his knee. As a result, he will not return to action before the end of the season.

The club explained that the injury occurred in training and was severe enough to end his campaign early. Jaros is now set to return to Liverpool where he will begin his recovery and rehabilitation program.

Third Liverpool player sidelined by knee injury

Jaros becomes the third Liverpool player this season to suffer knee injury that ends his campaign following Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni.

According to Liverpool Echo, the exact nature of Jaros’ knee injury has not been officially confirmed. However, there are unverified reports suggesting possible anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) issue though the club has not confirmed this.

Impact on Liverpool’s summer plans

The injury could affect Liverpool’s plans ahead of the summer transfer window. Jaros’ strong form at Ajax had attracted interest but a long recovery period could reduce his chances of permanent move in the coming months.
