With the window nearing and Sunderland safe, attention is turning to summer upgrades that could sharpen a European push. Sunderland Echo highlights seven realistic options from across the continent to add goals and depth.

Regis Le Bris has fashioned a mean defence, though extra firepower would help. Last summer’s continental recruits, Noah Sadiki, Robin Roefs, Nordi Mukiele, Brian Brobbey and Granit Xhaka, underline the model’s success.

At Strasbourg, Joaquin Panichelli, 23, has 16 in 27, offering hold-up play and aerial threat. Contracted to 2030 at a mid-tier Ligue 1 side, he could be attainable.

AZ forward Troy Parrott, 24, has struck 14 goals with four assists in 23 Eredivisie games, bringing pace and flexibility across the line to bolster Sunderland’s attacking options.
