Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Senegalese centre-back Arouna Sangante on a free transfer, tying him to the club until 30 June 2031 with a 50 million euro release clause. He becomes their third addition after Jon Guridi and Juan Iglesias.

At 24 and 1.89 metres tall, the former Le Havre captain embarks on his first move outside France and can also cover at right-back. According to Informe Morrocotudo, AS journalist Andrés Onrubia has called the deal a strategic success.

In that analysis, Sangante is portrayed as a high-impact, aggressive defender who excels in tackles and active recoveries in open field and around the box. His intensity saw him commit the most fouls in Ligue 1 last season.

Tactically, he has shown maturity both in deep blocks with three centre-backs and when defending high up the pitch. Aerially he is not dominant, but he compensates with power, short-distance speed and authority in ground duels.

Sevilla moved ahead of several European competitors to secure a natural leader at no cost. The coming weeks will reveal whether his arrival hastens departures among centre-backs outside the club’s plans.

Antonio Raíllo, the veteran RCD Mallorca captain, is on the radar and would welcome a possible move to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
