Sevilla must pay to sign Diego Conde from Villarreal this summer, with the club ruling out a free deal.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Villarreal have told Sevilla the operation would sit between one and a half and two million euros. The stance reflects an outlay of around four million in 2024 and a remaining amortisation of close to two million.
Sevilla are the only side to have enquired so far and there is no formal offer. The Andalusian club explored a release or zero-cost route because of finances, an option Villarreal have dismissed.
Conde is contracted until 2029, which strengthens Villarreal’s hand. The club have three senior goalkeepers, Luiz Júnior, Arnau Tenas and Conde, and intend to keep two in the first-team group, promoting a third from the academy.
Villarreal’s market plan is restrained under new head coach Iñigo Pérez. The squad is largely set and the club will only act to improve balance or respond to significant sales.
Carlos Romero has renewed and returns after an Espanyol loan. One or two midfielders are being sought, potentially shaped by Pape Gueye’s future, and pre-season will decide on Ilias Akhomach, Thiago Fernández and Ramón Terrats.
