That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest ongoings behind the scenes in Andalusia.
Goalkeeper Álvaro is for his part in the midst of a fine recent stretch of individual form.
Afforded the chance to impress owing to the injury suffered by fellow shot-stopper Ørjan Nyland back in October, the 26-year-old has grasped the opportunity with both hands.
Álvaro, all told, has featured from the off in each of Sevilla’s last six La Liga outings.
This includes two such fixtures in which the aforementioned Nyland was fit and available, signalling a change in the pecking order between the posts in García Pimienta’s squad.
And, as alluded to above, such form on Álvaro’s part has evidently not gone unappreciated on the part of those in the boardroom at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
This comes amid confirmation from Mundo Deportivo that:
‘Sevilla are already working on renewing [the contract of] goalkeeper Álvaro Fernández.’
