Sevilla have signed 21-year-old goalkeeper Francisco Javier González Pérez, known as Fran González, from Real Madrid on a contract to June 2031, according to Superdeporte. The move fills the club’s under-23 goalkeeping spot.
The León-born stopper, standing 1.99 metres, joined Madrid’s academy in 2022 after Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa. He rose quickly, becoming a regular with Castilla and frequently included in first-team squads.
González made his LaLiga debut on 5 April 2025 at the Santiago Bernabéu against Valencia, a match that finished 1-2.
Carlos Corberán’s side ended a 17-year wait for a Bernabéu win through headers from Mouctar Diakhaby and Hugo Duro, the latter in the 95th minute. González could do little about either effort.
An age-group international since under-19 and a European champion in 2024, with subsequent under-21 involvement, he arrives in Nervión with significant upside. Sevilla add a young keeper schooled at Real Madrid who will aim to establish himself at the top level. His breakthrough remains tied to Valencia’s memorable night in Madrid.
