Three-time WSL Golden Boot winner Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has signed a new four-year contract at Manchester City.

Our number nine, arguably the finest centre-forward in world football, has now committed her future to the Joie Stadium until 2030, which will bring about nine years of stellar service in Blue.

She sensationally announced the news of her new contract on stage at City’s 2025/26 After Party at Co-op Live after receiving the Etihad Player of the Season trophy.

Shaw’s enjoyed perhaps her finest campaign to date with the Blues, finishing as the WSL’s top scorer for a record third successive season with 21 goals in 22 games as City claimed the league title.

In doing so, the Jamaican became the first player in WSL history to surpass the 20-goal mark in three separate campaigns and also brought about 100 goal involvements in the competition in the process.

Recognition has followed in the form of both the FWA Footballer of the Year award and the WSL Player of the Season gong, with a potential FA Cup triumph also on the horizon should City get the better of Brighton on Sunday.

Already our record goalscorer, the 29-year-old became the first player in our professional history to reach a century of strikes for City in December 2025 and currently sits on 26 goals and seven assists in 31 appearances ahead of our trip to Wembley.

Joining the Blues in the summer of 2021, her tally after five seasons at the Joie Stadium now stands at 117 goals and 28 assists, or 145 goal involvements in just 137 appearances.

But now, after helping City reclaim the WSL title, Shaw’s sights are set on further success in Blue after committing the next four years of her incredible career to the Club.

Manchester City Director of Football Therese Sjogran said: “We’re delighted that Bunny has agreed to another four years at Manchester City.

“We’ve had a tremendous 2025/26 campaign, and she’s been a key figure in that success. I’m sure if we also get the result we’re hoping for in the FA Cup final on Sunday, she’ll have played a huge role in that as well.

“The stats and awards speak for themselves, but there’s so much more to Bunny than what she does on the pitch. She has become a real leader in the team and I’m sure she’ll be a driving force on our return to UEFA Champions League football next season and our push to retain the WSL title.

“It’s a huge statement from City that we’ve secured the services of one of the best centre-forwards in the world, but also from Bunny that she believes we’re the best place for her to succeed. I’d like to thank her for that continued faith in what we’re hoping to achieve.”

Speaking about signing fresh terms, Bunny said: “I’m so happy to be at this incredible Club for another four years.

“I’ve always said that Manchester City feels like home – I’ve developed so much as a player and grown so much as a person during my first five years here.

“Helping the girls win the WSL title is one of the proudest moments of my career, and I’m so excited to see what we can do next season and beyond – although there’s one more huge game to come against Brighton!

“To the City fans – thank you for always supporting us all. I’m so happy to be on this memorable journey with you all and can’t wait to see what we can achieve in the future.”

Significant Statement

Few players have dominated the WSL scoring charts as consistently or comprehensively as Shaw across her five years at Manchester City.

The Jamaican’s 83 goals in just 93 league appearances is the WSL’s best haul since her move to the Joie Stadium, with three consecutive Golden Boots in 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26 another record to add to her ever-growing collection.

She’s now found the net over 20 times in three separate campaigns, another first for the English top flight, and has also become only the sixth player in WSL history to reach 100 goal contributions.

Only team-mate Vivianne Miedema (97) and former Spurs centre-forward Beth England (89) have netted more in the competition’s history, while her 117 goals in 137 appearances for City places her top of the Club’s all-time charts.

This season, however, demonstrated that Shaw’s overall influence on how City play can often overlooked because of her remarkable exploits in front of goal.

Our number nine leads the Blues’ defensive line admirably, winning more duels than any other player in the WSL (152), while her 26 ball recoveries in the final third bettered only by Jess Park and Erin Cuthbert.

In short, the Jamaican is the final element of City’s attack, but also the first line of our defence – a responsibility she not only takes incredibly seriously but also one she excels at.

Individual accolades have deservedly followed as Shaw’s goals helped propel the Blues to the WSL title and – potentially – an FA Cup triumph, but her commitment to City for a further four years is perhaps seen by supporters as one of the biggest moments in 2025/26.

The centre-forward is operating at the top of her game at the moment which, for many, places her among the very best in world football.

So, as City look to build on a special campaign ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup final, her commitment to the Club will be seen as a huge statement across the WSL and Europe, but an even greater signal of intent.
