Jack Robinson hasn't endeared himself to the Birmingham City faithful in his first month at the club

Following a positive Man of the Match performance on his debut, it's been all downhill for Jack Robinson at Birmingham City.

The 32-year-old has been sent off twice and scored an own goal in his last three appearances for the Blues, which has coincided with a four-game winless run and a place in the bottom half of the table for a Birmingham side many expected to be challenging in and around the play-offs.

Robinson's second red card of the season against Hull City has resulted in a four-game ban, which he serves the first of in the Blues' midweek trip to Preston North End.

The centre-back's ban ends when Chris Davies' side travels to the Riverside to take on Middlesbrough on November 8, but some Blues fans are hoping that he doesn't make another appearance for the club again, branding him a "panic buy" and a "liability" on X.

Some Sheffield United fans had soured on their former captain in his final few weeks as a Blade and were quick to pile on the shame onto their Championship rivals.

It was clear that Birmingham needed some quality attacking depth to arrive near the end of the summer transfer window, especially given that Krystian Bielik had departed to West Bromwich Albion earlier in the month.

On deadline day, the Blues brought in Robinson, who hadn't had the best of starts to the current season for Sheffield United, but was Chris Wilder's captain for the majority of their impressive campaign last term, culminating in leading the side out at Wembley.

Less than two months into his Blues career, though, and Birmingham fans are wishing he never plays for them again, branding the deadline day move as a pure "panic buy" and calling the 32-year-old a "liability."

In the replies, Blades fans were quick to poke fun at their Championship rivals, showing disbelief that they managed to get Birmingham to pay money to take Robinson off of their hands.

Others empathised with the Birmingham fanbase, as this level of inconsistency was displayed regularly at Bramall Lane, too.

"One good game in ten," wrote one Sheffield United fan, and another commented on how a good game is on the horizon for Robinson, which will make them forget the inconsistency, that is, until he makes another mistake.

Finally, fans would relate to Robinson's performances, but without showing much empathy, almost as a way to say, "we told you so". "Something's never change", and "we did warn you", were among the Blades' reactions.

Jack Robinson has a point to prove when he returns from suspension

It's safe to say that Robinson doesn't have too many fans currently in the Birmingham fanbase, and if performances improve over the four games he is out through suspension, there'll be more of a narrative for him to not be involved again.

However, Chris Davies has shown that he favours a left-footed centre-back in his side, and the likelihood is that Robinson hasn't played his last game at St Andrew's, contrary to what many Blues fans would want.

Therefore, when he is brought back into the fold, the 32-year-old will have a lot of making up to do to Birmingham fans to show them that he is, indeed, the right man to help lead them up the table and into a battle for the play-offs.

But his point to prove may not even stop at just Birmingham. Sheffield United fans feel that these performances are a regular occurrence for their former captain, and Robinson will be eager to prove them wrong and show that he should still be regarded as one of the better defenders in the division.
