This is reported by Football Insider’s Wayne Veysey, who has outlined the Blades are interested in pursuing a loan move for the left-footed defender from their Championship rivals.

On the pitch, Sheffield United have undergone a mini-revival under Chris Wilder in the Championship, and will be hopeful it can continue heading into the festive period.

The Blades have won their last three league games on the bounce, securing two 3-0 victories over Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth before grabbing a pulsating 3-2 win at the King Power Stadium over Leicester City.

This has helped the Blades leapfrog out of the bottom three and up to 19th, with these small sample size of results hopefully being the catalyst to seeing the Yorkshire outfit look up the table rather than over their shoulders over the coming months.

In order to maintain an upwards trajectory, the January transfer window will be an important period to add quality options and to see if they can get themselves into the promotion race after such a rocky start.

And It could well start with the Blades boss reuniting with Robinson, given his lack of playing time in the West Midlands.

As per a report by Football Insider, Sheffield United are keen on exploring a move that would see Jack Robinson make an unexpected return to Bramall Lane.

The 32-year-old departed Yorkshire this summer after a five-year stint that saw him make 162 appearances in the red half of the Steel City.

He was aiming to make use of his extensive second-tier experience moving to the West Midlands with high-flying Birmingham City, but his start to life at Blues has been nothing short of disastrous.

Robinson has played just four times for the club since joining, and has been sent off in two of them, against Coventry City and Hull City.

Since his latest sending off against the Tigers back in October, Robinson hasn’t featured for the club since, with Phil Neumann and Cristoph Klarer the preferred central defensive duo for Chris Davies.

Because of such a lack of game-time, it now appears Sheffield United are willing to hand Robinson an escape route back to Yorkshire, with the Blades beginning to discuss the possibility of a loan deal until the end of the season at the turn of the new year.

Sheffield United’s defensive solidity could improve with Jack Robinson addition

Sheffield United have been one of the leakiest backlines in the Championship so far this season, ranking 20th in the league for goals conceded – shipping 28.

It’s a problem Chris Wilder still needs to solve over the long-term, but it is beginning to improve as the Blades have kept three clean sheets in their last four games.

However, the addition of Jack Robinson could be a real boost for the Blades.

Robinson, of course, would be reuniting with Wilder, who has had some of his best playing days of his career under his guidance. The Warrington-born defender was prominent last term when Sheffield United reached the play-off final, playing 34 times over the regular campaign.

Wilder clearly knows how to get the best out of Robinson’s game with the system he plays, and if a loan move can be agreed, then the backline has the opportunity to be so much more solid with a proven defender at this level returning to the ranks.

Another challenge for the Blades will be tying down defensive midfielder Jairo Riedewald to a longer-term contract, and if these two deals can get over the line, then there’s much room for optimism for those connected at Bramall Lane heading into the second half of the season.
