Sheffield United have entered the picture for Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil, while separate reports link the Black Cats with Rio Ave winger Andre Luiz and note West Ham’s focus on Jhon Lucum.
According to Football League World, United are monitoring Neil’s situation. The 24-year-old is out of contract at season’s end and has seen minutes limited since Sunderland’s promotion last year. Coventry City, Rangers and FC Koln have also been credited with interest, and United sit 16th in the Championship, nine points off the play-offs.
Sunderland remain linked with Luiz after a strong start in Portugal. The 23-year-old has seven goals and six assists from 17 top-flight matches this term. A Bola reports Jose Mourinho’s Benfica are leading the chase and that Rio Ave owner Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos, wants around 37.2 million and will not compromise.
West Ham are considering a summer move for centre-back Lucum, who was on Sunderland’s radar last year before Bologna blocked an exit. Efforts to extend his deal have not yielded a breakthrough.
Calciomercato IT claims a summer departure could follow, with the 27-year-old potentially available for just 3 million and interest from West Ham, Sunderland and Manchester City. He is currently sidelined after an injury sustained last weekend against Como.
