FLW's Sheffield Wednesday Fan Pundit Patrick has said that the Owls should pursue a move for younger players, such as Reece Welch.

Sheffield Wednesday are the crisis club of the EFL once again, with the Owls destined to return to League One after a harrowing time of it off the pitch that is surely finally coming closer towards ending.
The South Yorkshire giants entered into administration earlier this season, which was celebrated by supporters as it meant the departure of controversial owner Dejphon Chansiri.
Wednesday, though, have badly struggled on the pitch, due to the neglect of the club by Chansiri, and they remain on -9 points after the 12 point deduction for administration as well as a further six points for wage payment issues in the recent past.
The club are still in the process of being sold and sorted out but there will be a hope that some pride and optimism can be restored on the pitch in the second-half of the season, following the January transfer window.
A part of that will be with incoming signings and Wednesday have recently been linked with young Everton defender Reece Welch.

In the summer, Sheffield Wednesday were limited to two first-team signings, both on loan, with Ethan Horvath arriving from Cardiff City alongside Manchester United left-back Harry Amass.
Amass has been a shining light in a bleak campaign for Henrik Pedersen’s men, despite bizarre recent criticism from United boss Ruben Amorim, and FLW’s Wednesday Fan Pundit Patrick McKenna believes that the targeting of Reece Welch is the way to go in terms of bringing in younger players with an added hunger, such as Amass.
Patrick says: “I would certainly welcome this sort of signing.
“If you look at our signings this season, our most successful has been Harry Amass, on loan from a Premier League club.
“I think that if we go in someone young like this, looking to prove themselves then that is better than getting in someone over 30 with a dodgy injury record or maybe not having the desire to really prove themselves.
“We can see that with Harry Amass is grabbing the opportunity and Reece Welch is obviously a talented youngster but on his loan spells he hasn’t done anything massive as of yet.
“This could be a chance for him to really step up and, looking forward, for League One next season, there would be no harm looking to have a few players like this in the team.”

At the age of 22, Huddersfield-born centre-back Reece Welch, who joined the Everton academy as far back as 2010, is surely now ready to get himself some regular first-team football.
The former England youth international, who has represented his country at U16, U17, U19 and U20 level, has spent a couple of periods, albeit underwhelmingly so, out on loan from Merseyside.
He played 24 matches across all competitions for Forest Green Rovers in the first-half of the 2023/24 season before that loan prematurely ended mid-way through the campaign as FGR eventually succumbed to League Two relegation at the end of that campaign.
Last season, he moved to the Belgian second-tier to sign for Deinze on loan but, again, after a tough time of it, he had to return early with Deinze declaring bankruptcy in December 2024.
At Everton, Welch has occasionally featured in match day squads and he has made two first-team appearances for the Toffees but he will surely now be desperate to find his feet elsewhere.
The competition for his position is not too fierce with Pedersen’s preferred choice of a back three further limiting that, with Liam Cooper having arrived as an experienced head at the back, competing with youngsters Gabriel Otegbayo and Cole McGhee. Dominic Iorfa is also there and the system also allows for Liam Palmer to slot in on the right-side of that defensive three.
Reinforcements are required across the park and Wednesday can’t necessarily be too picky, while Welch could get the opportunity for desperately needed professional game time at a good level in the Championship.
