Eldor Shomurodov reflected on his difficult spell at Roma and the recent ‘rebirth’ under Claudio Ranieri.
The Giallorossi striker revealed the initial difficulties in settling at Roma in an interview with Uzbek media, reported by Il Corriere dello Sport:
“Dzeko was about to leave when I arrived at Roma. I was the only striker at the time, I thought I would be a starter during the season, but then some newspapers had launched the news of Abraham’s arrival and that the Englishman would be a starter.”
“I didn’t want to believe it because I had just been signed and I felt good athletically. I thought I had been treated unfairly, to the point of feeling depressed.”
“At Roma, instead of believing in myself, I started to blame those around me. As a result, I stopped fighting and this led to my decline. Now I feel like a different player, reborn thanks to mister Ranieri.”
On Gasperini: “Everyone knows that Gasp took Atalanta from scratch and brought them to the Champions League. I am convinced that he will also get good results at Roma. In any case, I am ready, I believe that my style of play satisfies the requirements of the new coach.”
