Barcelona starlet Hamza Abdelkarim has been taken under the wing of Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah in his country’s training camp for the World Cup.

This comes with the frontman viewed as the future of Egyptian football.

Abdelkarim, for those not aware, dominated the headlines in his native Egypt last month, after being afforded a senior call-up for this summer’s World Cup.

The goalscorer, who turned 18 earlier this year, spent the 2nd half of this past season plying his trade on loan with Barcelona. And his exploits with the Blaugrana’s U19s proved enough to convince Hossam Hassan and his staff of Abdelkarim’s readiness to contribute on the grandest stage in international football.

A whirlwind couple of weeks were in turn kicked into gear for the starlet.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Wednesday is anything to go by, then Abdelkarim’s surreal experience only appears to have heightened since actually linking up with Egypt’s squad.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Mohamed Salah has become his mentor. The former Liverpool player has been very supportive of Hamza during the first few days of training camp with the national team. Salah offered him a room to share during the World Cup and, as a welcome gift, gave him a jersey.’
