Simon Ebonog has become a reliable presence for Le Havre this season, rewarded with a deal to 2029, as they visit Paris FC on Sunday at 17:15 in Paris.
According to L'Équipe, the 21-year-old has made 22 Ligue 1 appearances, including 16 starts, after playing only five senior games before a title-winning loan at Nancy in National.
Back in Normandy, he presented as more assertive and mature. He says the change came from him, with extra gym work and recovery, and that the step to Ligue 1 was not straightforward.
He has since taken that step, and his performances were not derailed by the row sparked by Aron Dönnum’s hand-waving gesture towards him, the TFC player appearing to imply a bad smell.
Fresh from suspension, Ebonog is set to be involved at Jean-Bouin despite a knock in training this week. Head coach Didier Digard views him as attentive and invested, a player who fought for every start and drives forward against opponents, wins plenty of balls and carries play.
Per 90 minutes, he ranks second at Le Havre for duels won, 6.22, least dribbled past, 0.21, and third for ball recoveries, 5.66, and he leads for high-intensity presses with 65.83. He has five yellow cards, joint-most with Yanis Zouaoui, and is still chasing his first goal and assist for the club.
