It was reported in January that the Sky Blues’ manager is on the Premier League side’s radar due to the imminent departure of Oliver Glasner in the summer.

The 47-year-old has rebuilt his reputation at the CBS Arena since taking charge in November 2024, with his side now leading the way at the top of the Championship table.

A 3-1 victory against Middlesbrough moved Coventry ahead of Kim Hellberg’s team on Monday night, with Haji Wright’s hat-trick proving crucial to earning all three points.

The club have not competed in the Premier League since 2001, but Lampard is hoping to guide the team one step closer to the division compared to last year, when they lost in the play-off semi-finals to Sunderland.

Jordan has claimed that Lampard’s future will become quite interesting in the summer, if Coventry are promoted, because he will become a hot commodity in the coaching market as a result.

But he has urged the former England international to turn down interest from the likes of Palace and to show loyalty to the Sky Blues.

“Be fascinating to see what happens with Lampard because he’ll become a commodity,” said Jordan, via Talksport.

“If he gets this Coventry side up, he’ll become a commodity for other clubs and teams like Palace who have been in for him before.

“They’ll come knocking again, will be interesting to see, if he gets Coventry up, hopefully he’ll show a prerequisite amount of respect for the job he was given and stay where he’s been successful.”

Coventry had won just two of their previous eight games in the Championship prior to the 3-1 victory against Middlesbrough, who were on a six-match winning streak.

But the goals from Wright have lifted Lampard’s side back to the top of the second division table, one point ahead of Boro.

The gap to third place Millwall is now six points, although Ipswich Town are two further back in fourth but with two games in hand.

Next up for the Sky Blues is a trip to face a struggling West Brom side on 21 February in a 12.30pm kick-off.

Frank Lampard will be in demand this summer if Coventry are promoted

Doug King will be put to the test in the summer if Coventry are promoted, as Lampard is likely to attract interest from the likes of Crystal Palace, and potentially even a club such as Fulham.

He will have to commit to investing in the first team squad if the Sky Blues want to hold onto the 47-year-old.

The fight to remain in the Premier League will be tough, and the squad will need improvement anyway, but their recent form has only emphasised that point.

It would be great for Lampard to remain at the CBS Arena if that interest does arrive, but it will be up to Coventry to show why staying is the sensible choice.
