Leicester City title-winners Danny Simpson and Robert Huth have urged fans to back the players as the club tries to avoid dropping into League One, with the ownership debate intensifying.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, discontent with King Power has grown during the slide into the Championship relegation zone, and a protest is planned for the next home match against Norwich at the end of the month.
Supporter Jake Watson said he hoped relegation would force change, arguing that survival could keep King Power in place. He cited a sense of disconnect and neglect from the owners, and said relegation might be healthier in the long term.
Simpson, replying to Watson, challenged the idea of wanting to go down and urged supporters to get behind Andy King’s interim squad.
Huth echoed that stance and called for the spirit of 2014-15, when a late surge kept City up, saying the focus should be on staying up then rebuilding.
Former winger Matt Piper said new ownership would be the best route to fresh ideas and energy, while expressing gratitude for King Power’s past contribution. He added that Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha does not seem to match his late father’s leadership level, and that if Top surrounds himself with the right expertise, a big if in his view, he would accept King Power staying to try to turn things around.
