Chelsea are in action tomorrow night with a tough game at Brentford on the cards.

The Blues are already missing a few players to injury, and that’s compounded by the fact that they have such a strong South American contingent who all travelled across the world and back for international duty.

Maresca was asked about them and their chances of playing tomorrow in his presser this afternoon.

Brazilian stars sound doubtful for Chelsea return

“The three Brazilian players arrived yesterday. They didn’t train. They did some recovery sessions,” Maresca said.

“Moises Caicedo arrived last night, so I didn’t see him. I will see him today. So for all of them, it’s a question mark for tomorrow. But when they play in Bolivia, it’s so difficult that they can be back very soon.”

That seems to be very much pointing in the direction of them not playing. The selection will be very interesting, with Cole Palmer and Alejandro Garnacho also sounding doubtful.

Maresca talks up new signing’s chances

One of the South Americans in the squad now is Facundo Buonanotte. There are some doubts about how much game time he might actually get, especially when it was revealed that he wasn’t going to be in the Champions League squad.

But when asked about him, Maresca took the chance to talk up the loanees chances of playing a good amount this season.

“Buonanotte is a good player. I know him because he was in Leicester and I was there, so I have some contact there,” the Chelsea boss said.

“He’s a player that can help us. We have so many competitions, so many games, that for sure he’s going to play games for us.”

We have no doubt – with so many players already out or fatigued, his chance may come sooner rather than later.
