Michael Carrick has said Benjamin Sesko has been 'so good' for Manchester United as the forward pushes for a regular role.
Sesko has scored five goals in his last sixPremier League appearances for Manchester United, including the decisive goal in a 1-0 win at Everton on Monday night.
The Slovenian's form has been all the more impressive given his lack of football in that time. Predominantly used as a substitute, he's averaged a league goal every 37 minutes since scoring a double against Burnley last month.
Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have been preferred at centre-forward in recent weeks, though Sesko has staked his claim for the number nine position. Sesko's goals have earned Manchester United eight points during that period, in a huge boost to their top-four hopes.
It marks impressive improvement from Sesko, who endured a modest start following his £74marrival from RB Leipzig in last summer's transfer window.
Interim manager Carrick has been impressed with Sesko's showings in recent weeks and believes there's more to come from the summer signing.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's clash with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, Carrick discussed the 22-year-old's recent role. He said the selection headache that Sesko has provided is a 'real positive' as the club chase Champions League qualification.
"The whole thing is a real positive. It’s certainly not a decision that is one I look at in a negative way," Carrick said at his pre-match press conference.
"We’re playing well as a team, we’re not getting carried away and thinking that carries on.
"The forwards have scored a good number of goals, Ben has been so good in so many ways. It’s really not a drama. It just shows the quality Ben has got. If he starts the next game or the one after, it is what it is, but he’s doing so many good things."
