Chelsea thrashed Port Vale 7-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening to book their place in the FA Cup semi finals and a trip to Wembley.

It was pretty much the perfect afternoon with a rare clean sheet and seven different goal scorers, to end a run of four consecutive defeats.

Rosenior named a strong line-up with Cole Palmer captaining the side, and the Blues had the game wrapped up at half time as they raced into a 3-0 lead.

With the game put to bed, it was the perfect opportunity to hand exciting teenager Kavuma-McQueen his debut.

Rosenior has already handed Jesse Derry his debut in this season’s competition, and now it was the turn of another academy graduate.

Kavuma McQueen signed his first professional contract earlier this year, and the 17-year-old is one of the standout talents in the academy with 11 goals in 23 appearances for the youth teams this season.

The youngster replaced Romeo Lavia in the 78th minute, and Rosenior admitted afterwards he was delighted to see him make his debut.

“I was so happy for Ryan,” he told his post match press conference.

“I had the pleasure of watching him in the FA Youth Cup game maybe six weeks ago. I know a lot about the academy. The academy coaches tell me a lot about the players.

“I felt it was a really good moment for Ryan and for what is traditionally an outstanding academy to have another debut.”

Club captain Reece James also expressed his delight for Kavuma-McQueen as he took to Instagram and said: “Congrats lil bro, so happy for you.”

It’ll be interesting to see how many opportunities he gets between now and the end of the season given the difficult situation Chelsea find themselves in.
