Darren Fletcher led Manchester United in their first game after Ruben Amorim’s departure.
The former United midfielder, who was coaching the club’s U18 side, took interim charge of the Red Devils against Burnley, overseeing a 2-2 draw at Turf Moor.
A final decision on United’s caretaker manager until the end of the campaign is yet to be made. Fletcher has confirmed he will be on the touchline for United’s FA Cup clash against Brighton over the weekend.
It is understood that United have held talks with both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick about becoming the side’s caretaker manager.
The Norwegian, who was in the dugout from 2018 to 2021, is thought to be the leading candidate. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claim that Carrick is prepared to be Solskjaer’s number 2 if he unsuccessful in getting the interim manager role.
Earlier this week, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Solskjaer is negotiating an agreement with United. It was suggested that “work is now underway to sign a contract for Solskjaer this Friday.”
Norwegian newspaper Netavisen (via Sport Witness) now reveal the details of the contract Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be offered at United.
During his first stint at Old Trafford, Solskjaer, who was once labelled as a “managerial genius” by Gary Lineker, was reportedly on a deal worth around £7.2m per year.
However, the Norwegian outlet claim the former striker is willing to take “less money than when he last took over at United.”
Netavisen believe his salary will be around £50-60k per week.
Further, if the Mancunians qualify for the Champions League, the 52-year-old will receive a “significant bonus” of £3-4m.
United are sitting seventh in the Premier League, two points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
