Sonia Bompastor has signed a two-year extension at Chelsea, keeping her at the club until 2030 despite a stuttering run in the Women’s Super League.
The club said in a statement that the renewal reflects faith in her leadership and vision, adding there is still much to play for as they chase every major trophy. The statement also included Bompastor emphasising the team’s determination, resilience and intensity, and that they are fighting on four fronts, aiming to make supporters proud.
Bompastor, 45, had already been contracted through 2028 and joined in May 2024, succeeding Emma Hayes.
A patchy start and two recent league defeats have not altered the plan. Chelsea trail Manchester City by 12 points with eight matches remaining.
Her first season delivered a domestic treble, lifting the FA Cup, the League Cup and an unbeaten league title, and Chelsea also reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2024-2025.
