AS Monaco announces the extension of Soungoutou Magassa's contract for two additional seasons. The French midfielder, who turned 21 on October 8, is now tied to the Club until June 2029.
Originally from Stains, in the Paris area, Soungoutou Magassa joined AS Monaco’s Academy in the summer of 2018. The midfielder gradually progressed through the youth ranks, from the U17s to the EDG Group, before making his debut with the first team in January 2022 during the Coupe de France Round of 32 match against Quevilly-Rouen.
Since then, Soungoutou has established himself in the professional squad. Versatile and capable of playing as a midfielder or central defender, he made 21 appearances last season, including 15 as a starter, contributing to the Rouge & Blanc second-place finish in Ligue 1, earning them qualification for the Champions League.
This season, Soungoutou Magassa continues to stand out in the French championship with notable performances during victories against RC Strasbourg (3-1) and Stade Brestois (3-2). His displays earned him a nomination for the “Pépite du Mois” award for November, which honors the best Ligue 1 player born after January 1, 2003.
Most recently, the French U21 international reached another milestone by scoring his first professional goal on November 27 against SL Benfica in the Champions League. This achievement came shortly after his debut in the competition against Red Star Belgrade (5-1) and a solid performance against Bologna FC 1909 (1-0).
A regular member of the French U21 team and a key contributor during the 2023/2024 season with “les Rouge & Blanc”, Soungoutou was selected by Thierry Henry for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. There, he played five matches and won the silver medal alongside Maghnes Akliouche and Chrislain Matsima.
