Even at 39 years old, Luka Modric continues to prove himself to be a key cog in the Real Madrid midfield department.

While he might not start each game, every time the Croatian international steps on the pitch, he makes a difference.

In 43 appearances in all competitions thus far, of which only 19 have been starts, Modric has registered four goals and seven assists.

The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the season and even though a new deal could be a possibility, a departure is not ruled out either.

Real Madrid eye Vitinha

As a result, Real Madrid are looking at potential replacements to replace their captain and legend, with Fichajes reporting that PSG mainstay Vitinha has emerged as a target.

The 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder, has firmly established himself as one of the most impressive players in his position – catching the attention of the Real Madrid board ahead of the upcoming season.

Vitinha has become a key figure for PSG, excelling with his vision, passing ability, and attacking contributions.

As such, at the Santiago Bernabeu, there is a belief that he would be a perfect fit for the team. However, securing his signature will not be straightforward.

PSG are not willing to part ways with one of its most influential players, having tied him down to a new contract until 2029 last month, unless they receive a substantial offer.

The French club is well aware of the scarcity of top-tier midfielders on the market, and losing Vitinha would be a significant setback to their sporting project.

As a result, any potential negotiations with Real Madrid would likely begin at a high asking price – something that the Los Blancos hierarchy will have to carefully consider.

For now, Vitinha remains fully focused on his performances for PSG while Real closely monitor his progress, weighing up whether to make a concrete move in the next transfer window.
