Southampton has held personalised talks with Will Still of RC Lens, who could be an alternative option to take the role of Saints boss other than Danny Rohl.
Danny Rohl, who has experience in a coaching capacity at St Marys Stadium, has recently announced that he's made his mind up on his future. So much so, he has even communicated this to his current employers Sheffield Wednesday.
However, Rohl is not in the place to make his decision public just yet. Instead, he will focus on ending the season strong with Sheffield Wednesday, before throwing a spanner in the works about his future.
Will Still, who is considered an alternative by Southampton, has already met the Saints. The talkSPORT report does not confirm whether those meetings were positive or negative, but instead claims that the Saints are taking their time over a decision.
And rightly so. Southampton does not need to rush into a decision, as they have until the end of this season and over the summer before a decision must be made. Of course, the sooner the better, but the fans would rather wait longer for a better option than be presented a worse option immediately.
Perhaps the Saints have learned their lesson. This season, Southampton prolonged the decision to part ways with Russell Martin, and they rushed into the decision to hire Ivan Juric. Ultimately, it didn't end well, so now the Saints must strike the golden mean.
Still is a young manager, which you couldn't tell by analysing his demeanour and coaching philosophy. Since he's at the start of his managerial career, Southampton could prove to be an incredible stepping stone for him, with the ultimate goal of building a project and keeping Still long-term.
But, of course, fans are not blindsided to the facts. Still could become one of the best managers in Europe, his career path already is pointing towards that trajectory. So, beggars can't be choosers, and we'd rather house Still for a couple of seasons than no time at all.
That said, this rumour is still in its infancy. Talks do not always lead to a decision being made immediately, if a decision is even made at all.
