Southampton set to sign Aston Villa’s Lewis Dobbin in nine million pound deal | OneFootball

Lewis Dobbin is poised to complete a permanent switch from Aston Villa to Southampton in a move worth nine million pounds. Villa are set to recoup almost all of the fee they spent on the forward.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 23-year-old joined Villa in 2024 for £10m and has spent both seasons away on Championship loans.

His first spell came at West Bromwich Albion, where he struggled to make an impact. He made 18 appearances without scoring and started only one league match.

A half-season at Norwich City followed, bringing two goals in 11 outings, before a year at Preston North End where the wide attacker flourished.

He finished last term with 10 goals and eight assists for Preston, 11 in all competitions, and scored twice against Southampton. The Saints, led by Tonda Eckert, were removed from the Championship play-offs last season after the spygate scandal and are expected to be competitive again.
