Crystal Palace have won each of their last four Premier League meetings with the Saints, despite having won only one of the previous seven, aiming for three successive visits in Southampton for the first time since 1911.
Can Crystal Palace continue their exceptional form on the road? On Saturday, the Eagles booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals, swatting aside Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage, thanks to goals from Eberechi Eze, Ismaïla Sarr and then substitute Eddie Nketiah. Palace will now take on Aston Villa at Wembley later this month, still dreaming of capturing major silverware for the very first time.
In the Premier League meanwhile, Oliver Glasner's side are also in excellent form, winning six of their last eight, including three on the spin. Away from home, the Eagles have won five in a row, thereby climbing up to 12th, just six points adrift the final potential European position. Ahead of Saturday's clash with fierce rivals Brighton, most expect Palace to pick up three more points by the South Coast.
As for Southampton, they simply cannot wait for this season to end, stranded at the bottom of the table, and their relegation could be confirmed as soon as the weekend after next. Ivan Jurić's side suffered a fifth successive defeat last time out, beaten 2-1 by Wolves at home, with Paul Onuachu's late goal unable to spark a full-scale comeback.
The Saints therefore remain with only nine points to their name, requiring three more to avoid becoming the worst Premier League team ever, a prospect that's inching closer to reality week by week. Thus, those inside St Mary's are unlikely to have a very rare victory to celebrate.
James Bree, Jan Bednarek, Will Smallbone, Ryan Fraser and Ross Stewart remain sidelined, although Taylor Harwood-Bellis is expected to be fit, having recovered from a thigh strain.
Paul Onuachu's goal off the bench against Wolves could earn him a start; Flynn Downes is one booking away from a two-match suspension.
Southampton predicted lineup vs Crystal Palace: (5-2-2-1): Ramsdale; Walker-Peters, Stephens, Harwood-Bellis, Bella-Kotchap, Manning; Ugochukwu, Fernandes, Dibling, Sulemana; Onuachu.
Teenager Tyler Dibling has been Southampton's shining light this season, so can he add to his four goals for the campaign, one of which came at Selhurst in December?
Will Hughes is serving the second of his two-match ban having collected ten yellow cards, albeit he missed the FA Cup win due to illness anyway, so Adam Wharton will continue to partner Jefferson Lerma in midfield.
The headline team news at Craven Cottage was the return of Jean-Philippe Mateta, playing with a protective mask having required 25 stitches to his ear following the clash with Millwall. He'll continue to lead the line, with Oliver Glasner actually forecast to name an unchanged lineup.
Crystal Palace predicted lineup vs Southampton: (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Chalobah, Guéhi, Lacroix; Muñoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell; Sarr, Eze, Mateta.
Eberechi Eze scored the first and set up the second at Fulham on Saturday, taking his tally to six goals and nine assists for the season, seeking to add to his four career goals against Southampton.
We are backing Crystal Palace to cruise to victory by the South Coast, highly-likely to swat this generally hopeless Southampton team aside: Southampton 0-3 Crystal Palace.
