Southampton's U18 star Luke Hawe has received recognition for being one of the youngest Premiership stalwarts in recent memory.
It is widely considered that football records have a special place among elite Premier League teams. So for clubs like Southampton, milestones are hardly the norm amidst a routine relegation discussion.
Last year, the Saints made up some lost ground in that regard with Paul Onuachu's Puskas nomination. Agreed, his unbelievable moment didn't come at Southampton but an honorable mention is an achievement anyway.
Now, the club has been associated with another accomplishment recently. Surprisingly, the accolade has been earned by a player who is yet to play any competitive game for Southampton.
We are talking about young attacking recruit Luke Hawe who arrived in the U18 team during the past week.
If there are any Premiership fans out here, they would immediately recall Hawe etching his name as the youngest campaigner in the ongoing season. Now, the teenager has forced his way into the Scottish top-flight's history books as well.
According to a recent report from Belfast News Letter, the former is narrowly short from making it to the top ten youngest debutants shortlist across the past fifteen years.
Firstly, let's applaud Hawe for his commendable achievement. At the end of the day, getting a taste of senior level football being only 15-years-old is enough to tell a lot about the individual's talent.
Secondly, Hawe's player profile matches exactly what the club is looking for. An up and coming forward who possesses a knack of quick learning ability is a dream for any manager.
