Spain’s World Cup win over Argentina drives record TV audiences

Spain were crowned world champions for the second time on Sunday, beating Argentina after Ferran Torres struck in extra time at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. The win sent the travelling support into raptures and sparked a TV surge.
According to Superdeporte, the final gripped viewers across the full 120 minutes and dominated the small screen.
Across La 1, La2Cat, DAZN and Teledeporte, the match averaged 15,385,000 viewers with an 86.3% share, reaching 19,168,000 unique viewers.
La 1 alone delivered an average audience of 13,396,000 and a 75.1% share.
Extra time averaged 16,608,000 viewers and an 89.3% share, making it the second most watched event in television history. That period drew 18,120,000 unique viewers.
