It is the modern football transfer story in microcosm: a 23-year-old forward from the French Riviera, one eye on Istanbul, the other on North London or Elland Road, depending on who calls first. Evann Guessand, the Nice striker with 21 goal contributions last season, has found himself at the centre of what might generously be called a continental tug-of-war.

As reported by TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United have both made contact with Guessand’s representatives. West Ham, Brighton, Wolves and Crystal Palace have also expressed interest. In a market where the notion of value is more theoretical than tangible, Guessand is a name that ticks many boxes: young, international, productive, and, crucially, available.
Guessand is reportedly flattered by interest from the Premier League, but current momentum appears to favour Turkey. Fenerbahce, in need of a replacement for Edin Dzeko, have already made a move. Jose Mourinho, now managing in Istanbul, has held talks with the player directly. That kind of overture still carries weight, even in an era where player power and agent agendas dominate.

Guessand’s next move could hinge on timing. Should Premier League clubs make formal bids quickly, the tide could turn. But for now, it seems the path to Istanbul is clearer than any immediate flight to England.
For Spurs and Leeds supporters, the prospect of signing Evann Guessand brings a genuine sense of excitement. Here is a forward with technical craft, physical presence and a scoring record that suggests he’s only just getting started. With 12 goals and 9 assists last season, Guessand has demonstrated the kind of productivity that’s hard to ignore.
From a Spurs perspective, he would be a fascinating project under Thomas Frank. There’s a clear emphasis emerging on energetic, versatile attackers capable of operating across the front line. Guessand, with his intelligent movement and finishing ability, fits that mould. His age also means there’s room for development and resale value, a key factor in Spurs’ recruitment policy.
Leeds, on the other hand, need Premier League-ready firepower. Guessand may not yet be a marquee name, but his pace and strength would provide a new dimension up front. With Patrick Bamford’s injury record and Rutter still finding consistency, someone like Guessand could offer both impact and future value.
Of course, the Turkish interest complicates things. But if either club can move quickly and provide clarity on role and vision, Guessand may yet be persuaded to make England his next stop.
