Spurs land Brazilian teenager Souza from Santos

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian left-back Souza from Santos, with the 19-year-old putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.

Spurs reached an agreement with the Brazilian side earlier this month after an initial bid of around £8 million was rejected.

A revised offer, believed to be worth approximately €15 million (£13m), was accepted, allowing the deal to be finalised following a successful medical.

Souza becomes Tottenham’s second signing of the January transfer window and the first defensive addition under head coach Thomas Frank.

The teenager arrives highly rated and will compete with Destiny Udogie for a place at left-back, while also providing added flexibility across the back line.
