Frank’s side were thrashed in north London derby

Cristian Romero will be suspended after he picked up another yellow card in Tottenham’s heavy 4-1 defeat by Arsenal on Sunday.

The Argentine found himself on the receiving end of a humbling scoreline, where Eberechi Eze scored a hat-trick to follow Leandro Trossard’s opener.

Spurs captain Romero was booked for dissent in the 70th minute at the Emirates Stadium - his fifth of the league campaign - and he will be out for the north Londoners’ next domestic outing against Fulham next weekend.

Thankfully for Thomas Frank, that is the only game the central defender will miss, and he will be eligible for selection against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek.

Romero is the first Spurs player this season to be suspended for accumulating too many cautions, and there are a few that are creeping towards that dangerous five mark.

Joao Palhinha is one of them on three, while Romero’s central defensive colleague Kevin Danso, who started as part of a back five against Arsenal, is also on three bookings.

Forward Mohammed Kudus is another on three.

Should any of them pick up two further yellows in their next two matches, they could be out for Brentford’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, when Frank will take on his former club for the first time.

To kick off December, Spurs visit St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United in a midweek clash, before they welcome Brentford north of the river.

A home tie in the Champions League against Slavia Prague follows, before a trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest.
