England could be set to play at St James’ Park in the 2028 Euros.

An exclusive from The Times has reported the news on Monday.

They state that England are set to play one group game away from Wembley during the 2028 Euros, at one of the English stadiums that are hosting other matches.

Those options being Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium, Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, Villa Park, Newcastle United’s St James’ Park or Manchester City’s Etihad stadium.

The Times say that one of these five stadiums could also host an England round of 16 match in the 2028 Euros.

‘England’s schedule for Euro 2028 will include the co-hosts playing one group match and a round-of-16 game away from Wembley, it can be revealed.

At Euro 96 and the 1966 World Cup, England played all of their matches at Wembley, but there is a different plan for the tournament in 2028, which is also being hosted by Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

England, who look certain to qualify for the finals by one means or another, would play two group games at the national stadium and a third at another of the English venues: Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium, Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium, Villa Park, Newcastle United’s St James’ Park or Manchester City’s stadium. They would also play a round-of-16 game away from Wembley.

Uefa is due to announce the full match schedule for Euro 2028 next week but The Times has learnt that all the host nations will play their three group matches in their home countries. All countries bar the host nations will play group games at three different venues.’
