José Aldo set the tone in the 36th minute with a defence-splitting pass, yet Coritiba beat Mirassol 1-0. The midfielder's control and chance creation kept the hosts on the front foot.
From that opening incision, Aldo kept forcing gaps, releasing a runner for a central effort (36.). He then stepped inside to whip a shot from distance wide (42.).
On the stroke of half time, he supplied Gabriel Pires for a low strike that Pedro Rangel gathered in the fourth minute of first half stoppage time. After the restart, he fed Pires again for a blocked attempt (57.).
He completed 80 of 84 passes and made four key passes, repeatedly connecting moves in the final third with 34 successful entries. That volume underpinned Mirassol's pressure as Coxa-Branca sat deep.
With Mirassol seeing 69.2% of the ball, Aldo found pockets between lines to keep Coxa pinned back and recycle attacks throughout.
Coxa rise from sixth to fifth in the Brasileirão and visit Athletico Paranaense next. Mirassol, now 15th, go to Vitória next.
