Jean-Victor Makengo launched Lorient on a fast break in the 31st minute, releasing a team-mate for a shot, and his midfield control helped earn a 1-1 draw with Paris FC.
That burst encapsulated his first half threat, carrying the ball through midfield and sliding passes into the final third. He then cut inside for a left-footed effort that was blocked (33.).
After the restart, Makengo went closest for the hosts, rattling the left post from outside the box on the counter after Noah Cadiou sprung him forward (66.).
The France midfielder completed all 26 of his passes, created two chances and produced seven successful final third passes, a clean distribution line that kept Lorient's attacks flowing and pinned Paris FC back.
Because he continually received between the lines and progressed play with one-touch combinations, Makengo dictated tempo and ensured Lorient controlled the key transitions before his withdrawal on 72 minutes.
Lorient visit Lyon next. Paris FC host Monaco next.
