Joe Gelhardt opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a curling free-kick as Hull City beat Wrexham 2-1. The forward is now on 13 league goals, third in the Championship scoring chart.
He bent his left-foot effort into the top-right corner from the set piece, breaking a cagey first half and handing Hull the initiative.
Then he drew a spot-kick (42.), stepping up himself only for the goalkeeper to save (44.). He kept asking questions after the restart, seeing another effort blocked from the edge (68.).
He finished with three attempts, two on target, won three fouls including the penalty, and recovered possession four times, underlining how his movement and aggression continually tilted territory in Hull's favour.
By repeatedly drawing contact and attacking dead-ball situations, he gave Hull repeat platforms to attack, while his pressing and ball wins kept Wrexham pinned when it mattered.
Hull visit West Bromwich Albion next. Wrexham host Swansea City on Friday night.
