Thomas Kaminski set the tone in the 14th minute with a flying save, underpinning Charlton Athletic's 1-1 draw at Southampton.
He tipped a rising drive from James Bree over the bar (14.). The goalkeeper then smothered Shea Charles's low strike from the left channel (26.), setting an early pattern as Saints pressed.
Kaminski stayed sharp before the break, pushing away a skidding attempt from Léo Scienza (39.). Moments later, he palmed Ryan Manning's curler out of the top left corner (40.), keeping The Saints at arm's length.
After the restart he held another Charles effort from distance (60.). His best late stop came when he clawed out Manning's goalbound header from the centre of the box (78.). He finished with six saves, three punches and two high claims, repeatedly relieving pressure as Charlton Athletic sat deep.
Because Southampton dominated territory and loaded the box with crosses, Kaminski's handling and positioning were decisive. His command under a stream of deliveries and nine home corners helped steady the visitors and protect a hard-earned point.
Saints are 11th, down from 10th. Charlton Athletic are 17th, up from 18th. Saints host Queens Park Rangers next, while Charlton Athletic visit West Bromwich Albion.
