Carl Rushworth set the tone in the 15th minute with a low save, and Coventry City drew 0-0 at Hull City. The goalkeeper's clean handling and command of his box underpinned a well-earned away point.
That first big stop came as he plunged to his right to palm away a close-range header, steadying Coventry City during Hull's bright start.
After the restart, he held Joe Gelhardt's firm header from the centre (55.). He then dived right to turn away Oliver McBurnie's glanced effort (62.), maintaining his compact shape on successive deliveries.
Late on, Rushworth blocked Mohamed Belloumi's skidding shot towards the bottom corner (88.). He finished with four saves, two aerial wins and 37 accurate passes from 48, a blend of reflexes and distribution that kept Hull at arm's length.
With Hull firing 13 attempts, Rushworth's positioning on crosses, capped by one high claim and a punch, helped Coventry City ride out pressure and leave with something to show for it.
Coventry City host Sheffield Wednesday next in the Championship. Hull visit Sheffield United.
