Statute reform: SAF hearing at Corinthians may include SAFIEL

On the evening of this Monday (24th), the Corinthians Deliberative Council (CD) met to analyze and vote on the club's statute reform. After just over two hours of debates, however, it was decided that the vote would be postponed to allow for more discussions on the proposed changes, through ten public hearings that will extend until February 2026.

In a press conference after the suspension of the CD session, the president of the body, Romeu Tuma Júnior, detailed to the press and fans how these hearings will work. Each of them will debate specific sections of the reform, grouped by common themes. The meetings, to be held at Parque São Jorge, should be open to councilors, members, and fans, under rules that will still be disclosed.

It was also explained that these hearings may include the presence of specialists on the topics under debate and other interested parties. An example discussed behind the scenes, after the press conference, involved SAFIEL, a project that proposes transforming the alvinegro football into an SAF financed through shares acquired by fans and the press.

The idea is that the creators of SAFIEL will be invited to attend the hearing that will debate the statutory procedure for the potential approval of an SAF at Corinthians. Initially, the draft project included a rule where the majority control of a company in this model would have to remain with the association. Later, an amendment proposed an alternative text, which would only mention the need to maintain "institutional control" to ensure the club's "veto power over strategic and essential matters."

Central do Timão has learned that if SAFIEL is indeed invited to participate in the public hearing intended to discuss the SAF procedure in the statutory reform, it will accept the invitation. It is worth noting that there has already been initial contact between the group and representatives of the alvinegro management, with the delivery of documents and a request for the club to sign a memorandum of understanding, thus allowing the start of studies for the potential future implementation of the project.
