Newly appointed OM president Stéphane Richard used his first press conference to question Liverpool’s lavish rebuild, arguing that resources alone do not ensure performance.
According to L'Équipe, he was presented on Friday alongside Frank McCourt. He said OM should be in the Champions League every season, which means finishing in Ligue 1’s top 3, and stressed that ambition is not only about money.
Richard cited Liverpool’s 480 million euros outlay last summer and noted that, while it is not a failure, the outcome has brought considerable disappointment.
That window focused on the arrivals of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, while Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez departed.
Marseille spent less, though they broke their transfer record to sign Igor Paixão and are currently fourth in Ligue 1.
